Inaugural Allerton Music Barn Festival
FRIDAY, AUGUST 31—MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2007
6:30 p.m. Dinner, 8:30 p.m. Concert
Allerton Road, Monticello, Illinois
www.allertonmusicbarn.com

We're kicking off our first year with an appropriately global spin on the tried, true and new: Afro-Latin Jazz, Copland, Walton, J.S. Bach—and a Cajun-Creole mix called Zydeco. The beauty of our new music barn is its intimacy. With only 150 seats total, there isn't a bad seat beneath the rafters. And at this festival, the culinary sets the stage for the acoustic and your ticket includes a pre-event meal prepared by K-Spear Culinary Arts! A sell-out is expected. Purchase tickets or season passes at www.allertonmusicbarn.com!

This important new play explores the creative process of Ludwig van Beethoven as situated at the intersection of life and art, and thoughtfully probes our own engagement with the artistic legacy of this brilliant, fascinating, witty, and sometimes elusive composer. Inspired by the work of UI musicology professors William Kinderman and Katherine Syer, 33 Variations, a co-production of the Arena Stage and the Tectonic Theater Company, was mounted in a final workshop production at UIUC held last March in conjunction with the Genetic Criticism Conference.
