Duties: Studio instruction of undergraduate and graduate students in horn; teach a course in horn literature; coach student chamber ensembles. Perform solo recitals and in faculty chamber recitals. Actively recruit students and participate in auditions, recital hearings, and committees.
We seek an active performing hornist whose on-going performance activities and master classes will attract a superb horn class.
Rank: Assistant or Associate Professor; regular full-time, tenure-track position (pending budgetary approval).

Qualifications: Graduate degree in horn performance or the equivalent in professional experience required. Strong solo performer and artist-teacher of established reputation expected. Demonstrated ability as a teacher of both advanced and less-experienced students expected.

Duties: Teach courses in music theory, musicianship and analysis at the graduate and undergraduate levels; graduate seminars in areas of expertise and composition if appropriate. Maintain a high level of professional activity. Supervise independent projects, theses, and dissertations. Participate in service to the School of Music, the University, and the profession as appropriate for tenure-track faculty.
Rank: Assistant Professor, regular full-time, tenure-track position (pending budgetary approval).
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications: The School of Music seeks a theorist or composer with expertise in one or more of the following areas: common practice theory of the 18th and/or 19th centuries; jazz or world music. The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate a commitment to pedagogy, participate in the development of new paradigms in the delivery of core musicianship for undergraduates; help contribute to a cognate in theory for our graduate students; and complement the expertise of the Composition/Theory Division. A doctorate in music, experience teaching college-level musicianship, and a strong research profile are required.

Duties: Studio instruction of undergraduate and graduate students in cello. Performing and coaching chamber and ensemble music. Additional duties may include teaching string pedagogy or string literature in rotation with other faculty. Active recruitment of students and participation in auditions, recital hearings, and committees expected in service to the School of Music, the University, and the profession as appropriate for tenure-track faculty. We seek an active performing cellist, whose on-going performance activities and master classes will attract outstanding cello students.
Rank: Assistant Professor, regular full-time, tenure-track position (pending budgetary approval).
Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications: Solo performer, artist-teacher, and chamber musician of established national or international reputation required. Demonstrated ability as a teacher of both advanced and less experienced students required. Successful teaching experience at the college level preferred. Doctoral degree in cello performance or the equivalent in professional experience preferred. Experience in a major chamber ensemble or orchestra desirable.

Duties: In addition to maintaining the reputation of the School of Music at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a pre-eminent leader in the field of wind ensembles, successful candidates will serve as ambassadors for the School to the instrumental band field. Responsibilities include conducting the University of Illinois Wind Symphony, teaching private conducting lessons to graduate conducting majors, teaching courses in advanced band rehearsal techniques and literature, and providing dynamic leadership and effective administration of the University of Illinois band program.
Rank: Regular, full-time tenured position at the rank of full professor (pending budgetary approval).
Salary: Salary based on qualifications and experience.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree or equivalent professional experience required. Applicants should demonstrate a significant track record of success in the field of conducting. In addition, applicants should exhibit outstanding musical artistry and rehearsal techniques, the ability to oversee and cultivate a flourishing band program, and to act as a recruiter/ambassador for the School.

Qualifications: Ph.D. completed by August 16, 2009 expected.
