Choral, Orchestral, and Wind Conducting (Graduate)
The following requirements are the last steps in the admissions process.
Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting:
- Submit a prescreening DVD. Please label DVD with your full name and "Prescreening Choral". The DVD should be a 15-minute recording of a recent choral rehearsal or performance.
- Repertory list of conducted choral works and solo vocal literature performed (submit by pdf).
- A limited number of applicants will be invited to audition. Invited applicants will be contacted soon after January 1 to arrange an on-campus audition (Dates TBA).
- Diagnostic test administered at the time of audition (DMA only)
Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting:
- Submit a prescreening DVD. Please label DVD with the applicant's full name, "Prescreening Orchestral Conducting" and include a written log indicating the title and timing for each excerpt included. DVD should be approximately 15 minutes, comprised of excerpts from contrasting repertoire that demonstrates a variety of styles and tempi. The camera should be placed at the back of the ensemble with the focus on the front of the conductor. A full-size ensemble is not required; for example, a string quintet plus piano will suffice.
- Submit a repertory list (submit by pdf)
- A limited number of applicants will be invited to audition. Invited applicants will be contacted soon after January 1 to arrange an on-campus audition (Dates TBA).
- Interviews and additional testing will take place at the live auditions
Master of Music in Wind Conducting:
The School of Music is not currently accepting applications for the MM in Wind Conducting. This program is expected to resume in Fall 2011.
