Strings (Graduate)
Cello
Applicants for the M.M. degree must play a first movement of a standard concerto, two movements of a Bach solo sonata, and two additional contrasting works. Applicants for the D.M.A. degree must play the following:
- A complete Bach solo Suite, performed by memory.
- A complete major concerto, performed by memory.
- A major work of contrasting style to the above.
Double Bass
Applicants for the M.M. and D.M.A degrees must play a first movement of a standard concerto, two movements of a Bach solo sonata (or another unaccompanied work), and two additional contrasting works.
Harp
All applicants should prepare two to three contrasting works, as well as an orchestral excerpt or cadenza. Sight-reading will be included. Applicants who submit a recorded audition must include repertoire consisting of thirty to forty-five minutes of music; selections should include contrasting works as well as an orchestral excerpt or cadenza. Movements or excerpts from concerti or chamber music are also acceptable. Applicants who audition on-campus must perform solo works from memory.
Viola
Applicants for the M.M. degree must play a first movement of a standard concerto, two movements of a Bach solo sonata, and two additional contrasting works.
Applicants for the D.M.A. degree must play the following:

Violin

- A complete major concerto, performed by memory.
- A major work of contrasting style to the above.
