School of Music CD Duplication Rates

1.PRIORITIES

The requirements of the students and faculty of the School of Music must receive first priority in the use of halls and studios for recording, as listed below.

A. Required Senior and Graduate degree recitals
B. Performances of the School of Music ensembles
C. Faculty recitals.
D. Student recording sessions.
E. Faculty and ensemble recording sessions.
F. Junior recitals.
G. Outside clients: We do extend our services to non-University groups and individuals such as visiting artists, conferences, and consortiums. However, studio personnel are not obligated to accept requests from groups or individuals whose recording activities are unrelated to the educational functions of the University of Illinois.

A. Concert, recital, and session recording.
B. Music Editing (digital & analog).
C. Compact Disc Mastering.
D. CD Duplication w/ on-disc color printing and jewel box insert printing.
E. Video Recording (MiniDV/DVD - Smith Recital Hall Only).
F. Sound Reinforcement & Public Address.


3. FORMATS

A. Compact Disc (CD-R).
B. DVD.
C. DAT (digital audio tape).
D. PCM Digital (with Beta II video).
E. Cassette Tape (Dolby B and C Noise Reduction).
F. Reel to Reel (7.5, 15 ips: Dolby A & dbx type 1 Noise Reduction).
G. VHS Tape (Hi-Fi)


4. POLICY

Services will be provided if requests are received at least two weeks before the event and if audio staff and equipment is available. Request for Audio Services forms can be picked up in the Music Building in room 3042 (Stenographics Services Office) or the Music Events office.

Upon completion of the requested services, materials must be picked up from room 3042 within 10 working days. At that time, a payment for services and materials must be paid according to a detailed invoice accompanying each order. Payment is accepted by check only, payable to the University of Illinois.




School of Music AUDIO SERVICE Rates [top]

1. SOM FACULTY: Ensemble Recitals & Concerts
No charge for engineering or equipment use. A CD-R is archived by the Audio Department and 1 CD-R copy is given to the performer or conductor of the ensemble. Additional CD copies may be ordered at current duplication rates.



2. SOM STUDENTS: Recitals & Recording Sessions
SOM Audio Engineer $15/hour
Studio Fee $30/hour
Total Hourly Charge $45/hour



3. SOM FACULTY & Authorized SOM Groups: Recording Sessions
SOM Audio Engineer $15/hour
Studio Fee $50/hour (2 hour minimum)
Total Hourly Charge $65/hour

Additional fees may be charged for large ensembles to cover for setup and strike of stage and the use of music stands and chairs.

We reserve the right to determine that certain styles or genres of music are inappropriate for the use of our facilities.
