Jake Walburn

Visiting Lecturer of Trumpet

Jake Walburn previously served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Jazz at Oklahoma State University from 2007-2008. His teachers include Tito Carrillo (jazz), Todd Davidson, Michael Ewald, Ronald Romm, and Joel Treybig. Walburn has performed extensively throughout the Unites States, including performances with the Illinois Brass Quintet, Southern Arts Brass Quintet, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Perrysburg (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra, Meridian (Mississippi) Symphony Orchestra, and Southern Arts Pro Musica. He performed at the 1998 International Trumpet Guild Conference in Lexington, KY and at the 2002 International Trumpet Guild Conference in Manchester, England. In 2003, Jake performed the Mississippi premiere of Robert Bradshaw’s Sonata as part of its “50 State World Premiere Project." He has also performed in the pit for over 20 professional musical theatre productions, including “Hairspray,” “The Music Man,” “Les Miserables,” “A Chorus Line,” “Carousel,” “Brigadoon,” “The Pajama Game,” “Crazy for You,” and “Hello Dolly.” He has shared the stage with artists including Placido Domingo, Doc Severinsen, Bobby Shew, Eddie Daniels, Carl Allen, Edward Tarr, John Hagstrom, Steve Wiest, and Christopher Parkening.
